Automotive Fuel Pump And Fuel System Repairs In Hendersonville, Tennessee

No Fuel Pumping Is Equal To No Fun

Hendersonville Muffler and Brakes repaired carburetors for many years before we started repairing fuel injection systems. Carbureted cars and trucks had mostly simple mechanical fuel pumps like the one shown here to supply the carburetors with about 4-7 lbs. of fuel. As car and truck owners here in Hendersonville, Tennessee started bringing us fuel injected vehicles to repair we had no choice but to adapt to fuel injection repairs.

All modern fuel injected cars and trucks run at least one electric fuel pump like this one. most cars and trucks run at least 35-45 pounds of fuel pressure but modern direct injection, (and all diesel engines) run a second pump which raises the fuel pressure over 1,100 ponds. one of the most common failure item in modern fuel injected vehicles is the fuel pump.

Hendersonville Muffler and Brakes has always been diligent about telling our customers to replace the fuel filter regularly in their cars and trucks. Clogged fuel filters are the number one reason fuel pumps fail prematurely. The number two reason fuel pumps fail prematurely is people driving their cars and trucks with very little fuel in the fuel tank to keep the fuel pump cool. With this being said most fuel pumps in modern cars and trucks last about 100,000 miles and the main reason we see fuel pumps die is simply that they are worn out from use.

At Hendersonville Muffler and Brakes we diagnose fuel injected cars and trucks every day. We see clients come in who have had their injectors cleaned, had the car tuned up, replaced ignition components and replaced sensors when the only problem with the car or truck was the fuel pump not producing enough pressure. On the other hand we see a lot of customers replacing fuel pumps with after-market units when the real problem on their car was a clogged up fuel filter.

There Is No Replacement For Good Fuel Pressure

Be careful when using cheap, after-market fuel pumps in your car or truck. We have reinstalled the customer's original pump back in the car and had it work better than the new pump more than once. Remember NEW stands for Never Ever Worked! This doesn't mean the new part is not better than the old part. It just means you need to test anything you put into a car or truck to see if it works correctly before the car leaves the shop for service. We don't WORK ON cars and trucks here at Hendersonville Muffler and Brakes. We FIX CARS AND TRUCKS. We are a full service auto repair facility where we can diagnose and repair any problem with your car or truck. We know which after-market parts work well because we use them every day. Their are times that you can get the original part for the same money or even less than an after-market part and we watch for this as we repair our client's vehicles.

We Just Fix The Car!!

We have the diagnostic equipment to quickly diagnose our customer's car or truck including the fuel system. We can spot a bad fuel injector, a defective fuel pressure regulator, a weak fuel pump that is still running or a dead fuel pump that has stopped working entirely. Many fuel pumps are replaced when they are really not getting the proper voltage because of a defective relay or improper connections.

Fuel injected cars may turn the check engine light on with a P0300 code, (misfire code), or a lean running condition code, (P0174 or p0175) when the fuel pump is really not delivering enough fuel to run the engine efficiently. Fortunately you don't have to worry yourself with all of these details. When your car or truck starts running badly anywhere close to Hendersonville, Tennessee you can just bring the car or truck in for repair to Hendersonville Muffler and Brakes and get reliable accurate diagnosis and repairs.
