We love Volkswagens. Volkswagen started out as cool little cars and vans that were reliable transportation. The first Volkswagen was commissioned by Adolf Hitler as, "The peoples car". The company formed in 1937 with one model which was formally known as, "Volkswagen Type 1". The car was designed by Austrian designer Ferdinand Porsche. After the war the rest of the world referred to them simply as "Beetles". Volkswagen followed up in 1949 with the Type 2. The type 2 was a van and they sold like hot cakes once they were introduced to the world. I repaired Volkswagens every day and I had owned over a hundred before I was eighteen years old. These old air cooled vehicles will always have a special place in my heart. If you are looking for an air cooled Volkswagen expert you need to look no further than Hendersonville Muffler and Brakes.

in the 1970's Volkswagen started producing water cooled, front wheel drive vehicles. They called them, "Rabbits" and much like the animal they soon seemed to be everywhere. The first diesel engine in a truck that I ever owned was a Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup. Volkswagen Diesels became famous for getting over 50 mpg and mine was no exception.

Somewhere in the early 1990's Volkswagen started using turbochargers in a lot of their smaller engines. Volkswagen still produced their diesel engines but also produced a TDI version which stands for Turbo Direct Injection. Though direct injection is popular now, Volkswagen and Audi were the first car companies to mass produce Turbo Direct Injection vehicles. This change made them perform like larger engines while still getting the efficiency that a small engine should. Many new models started using these turbocharged engines in ordinary daily drivers like the Jetta, Passat, and the new beetle. (We used to have to install our own turbochargers in the old beetle). The addition of turbochargers made the cars much more fun to drive and own but sometimes made them harder for technicians who weren't familiar with them to repair especially when it comes to emissions repairs. (I don't know why more technicians don't go to school for what they do).

Volkswagen make the diesel fun! We love TDI's! We are the only private automotive repair shop in Sumner County repairing Volkswagen diesels. We have all of the tooling required for emissions repairs and Marta readiness. We also have any and all tools necessary for Volkswagen air conditioner system repairs, diesel injection pump timing, emissions repairs or anything else that you need for your Volkswagen no matter what year it is. for all of your Volkswagen needs come to Hendersonville Muffler and Brakes.
